If you are a beginner at baking, you will want to start out with a recipe that is not too difficult. The first thing you should do after you find a recipe is to read the recipe completely to ensure that you understand the instructions. When you read the recipe, if you do not understand any of the terms used, you will want to clarify what it means before you begin. Get all your ingredients together first to be sure you have everything you need to complete the recipe.
One of the recipes that quite a few of the younger beginners start with is a cookie recipe, especially a chocolate chip recipe. To make such a recipe, the ingredients you need are two and one-fourths cups of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of baking soda, one teaspoon of salt, one cup of butter, three-fourths of a cup of granulated sugar, three-fourths of a cup of packed brown sugar, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, two large eggs, two cups of Nestle's Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels and one cup of chopped nuts.
To begin, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in the flour mixture and then stir in the morsels and nuts. Drop the finished batter by a rounded tablespoon onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for nine to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for two minutes and then remove to wire racks to cool completely. This recipe can be found in full at www.verybestbaking.com/recipes/detail.aspx?ID=18476.
