A Scrumptious Dessert

If you are a chocolate lover in search of a great recipe, this one is for you. The following recipe is for Chocolate Turtle Cake. The following is the list of ingredients you will need to get started: one box of devil's food cake mix, vegetable oil, three eggs, caramels, evaporated milk, pecans and one bag of semisweet chocolate chips. If you really want to splurge, consider getting ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate syrup to put on top of the cake when serving it.

To begin, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a 13 by 9 inch glass pan. Next, in a large bowl, beat the cake mix, one and one-thirds cups of water, a half cup of vegetable oil, and the eggs with an electric mixer on low speed, then on medium speed for about two minutes. Pour half of the batter into the greased pan and bake it for 22 minutes. Put the other half of the batter into the refrigerator.

While the cake is in the oven, heat the caramels and a half cup of evaporated milk over medium heat until melted. Then add one cup of chopped pecans, making sure to stir often. Remove the cake from the oven and pour the caramel mixture over it. Then sprinkle one cup of chocolate chips on top. Finally, spread the rest of the batter from the refrigerator and bake for 25 more minutes or until the cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. This recipe will make enough for 20 servings and takes about 25 minutes to prepare. This recipe comes from the following webpage: http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/recipe.aspx?recipeID=35883

To ensure that your baking products turn out tasting and looking like they were made by a professional, there are a few things to keep in mind. Always use the freshest products available, especially eggs. Make sure that all of your bowls, pans and utensils are clean and dry and keep your work area clean along the way. Check expiration dates and discard any expired products. One final thing is to have a cooling rack ready for when you take your baked good out of the oven.
