Family tree projects can be exciting for young children. For the very young children, the family tree can be painted with the branches spread out on a large piece of heavy paper and then place family pictures on the tree. They can see where the parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents are in their ancestry.
You can teach older children to hunt for "clues" in family history and to trace out answers. A scrapbook could become a project to make with the children.
