Easy Apple Crisp

This is such a simple dessert recipe that is so easy and so delicious. Adding one golden delicious apple makes the dessert sweet without adding a lot of sugar. It would be a comforting food to make any time of the year and would also be an enjoyable project for a child to work on or a family to prepare. The YouTube video explains the recipe and exactly how to prepare. Enjoy!!!

Ingredients:
5 Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored and cut into 1" to 1½" chunks)
1 Golden Delicious apple (also peeled, cored and cut into chunks)
1 cup all purpose flour, sifted
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 large egg, beaten well
¼ to ½ cup melted butter
Additional cinnamon for topping

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a medium baking dish or casserole. Peel, core and cut the apples into chunks, trying to keep in uniform pieces, and place in the prepared baking dish. Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl and stir in the beaten egg to make a crumbly mixture (could add one tablespoon of lemon juice). Pour crumbs on top of apples. Drizzle with melted butter or margarine and sprinkle with extra cinnamon.  Bake dessert in 350-degree oven for 40 to 50 minutes until apples are tender and top is bubbly and browned.

Best served while still warm as is or could be topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped topping, yogurt, or sour cream.

Gift Idea: Measure dry ingredients and put in a pretty bag and write the recipe on a pretty card. This is simple but a nice thought since all the recipient has to do is peel and chop the apples, melt the butter, mix in the egg and bake to have a fabulous dessert.
