Proper stretching is important before you do your workout, before you jog or run, and even before you walk. Athletes, dancers, martial artists, swimmers, etc., all use stretching before they start their workout or routines. Your muscles have to work with your bones in almost every move you make. Stretching before exercising helps the muscle become more elastic and move easier instead of tightening up and cramping when you start your movements.
To find out more about stretching, especially medical advice, check out the following post: http://www.ipersonaltrain.com/2009/09/03/isometric-stretching.html. This is a recent post on a new website (www.ipersonaltrain.com) which I highly recommend that you check out right away.
