Bluegrass Music in American Culture

Do you enjoy bluegrass music? Well, bluegrass music has made quite a splash since its quiet beginnings in the 1920s with the Carter Family, but the true bluegrass really started in the 1940s, after World War II, with the Monroe brothers and their band the "Blue Grass Boys." Of course, true bluegrass started to take the American music world by storm in the the 1940s and has grown and changed each decade since.

To say bluegrass is grass roots Americana music would be very appropriate, although it does have some roots in other cultures as well. It has grown up with the South and is still a very visible part of the musical history of the country.
